Welcome to Hard Head Helmets
Ski and Snowboarding Helmets
The use of ski and snowboard helmets are becoming more and more popular on the slopes. High profile ski accidents such as the tragic death of Sonny Bono in 1998 have highlighted the need for skiiers and snowboarders to wear a helmet. There has been a particular push towards encouraging children to wear a helmet whilst skiing or snowboarding. In 1999 the US government commissioned a study investigating the number of head injuries sustained on the ski sloped each year. The study concluded that approximately 7,000 head injuries are suffered each year as a result of ski and snowboard accidents.
Do I need to wear a helmet when skiing or snowboardng?
Whilst the wearing of a ski helmet or snowboard helmet is not mandatory, helmets undoubtedly reduce injury. These days helmets are streamlined and comfortable so there are no excuses for not wearing a ski or snowboarding helmet. Wintersports helmets are suitable for both skiiers and snowboarders - there are no differences.
